Your animator photographer: Olivier Blaise is a renowned professional photographer and videographer who won the 1st prize of the World Press Photo in the Nature & Environment category. Asked by many magazines, he is a photojournalist in West Africa, India, United States for ethnographic and ecological reports. He regularly makes documentaries for television. Olivier Blaise lives in Samois-sur-Seine since 2005 on the edge of the forest of Fontainebleau where he organizes advanced courses in the forest. Required material:

The ideal is to carry a SLR camera. If compact cameras have the advantage of being light, the use of manual modes is often much less convenient than on a SLR. Nevertheless, the compact “high end” allow a relatively simple manual operation. Same remark with devices called “Bridge”. If you have multiple devices and lenses, do not hesitate to pack everything.

Make sure that you have direct access, using knobs or buttons (not via menus), to the following most commonly used functions: Iris, Shutter Speed, ISO Sensitivity, and Balance Settings whites.

Plan multiple memory cards and at least two batteries per camera, especially for compacts that consume more than SLRs. Take a tripod if you wish and if you can, but it is not essential, you will only use it once or twice during your stay. Even if you know how your camera works, take it with you in printed or digital form. Finally, bring with you a laptop with photo editing software you own. Do not forget a memory card reader or cable connecting the camera to the computer.

Internship

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL:

Airport reception by the Sun Crete Travel team and transfer to the Hotel. Dinner on the old harbor of Chania – Traditional tavern.

DAY 2:

9am: Breakfast at the hotel. 9h30 – 12h30: Learning and discovery of digital photography techniques.

13h: Lunch in the covered market (traditional dishes)

14h – 18h: Shot in the old city (Palace, Venetian Houses, Streets.

19:30: Dinner on the Old Port.

20h30 – 22h: Work at the hotel on editing software. Learn how to manage a digital photo stream.

DAY 3

7am: Shooting on the external market.

9 am Breakfast hotel.

10h – 13h: Work at the hotel on editing software.

13h: Lunch in town.

14h – 19h: Photo report to the Orthodox monasteries of Aghia Triada and Gouverneto of the XV and XVI centuries still in activity. Guided tour with guide (private transport).

19:30: Dinner in town.

21: 30-23: 00: Work at the hotel on editing software.

DAY 4:

7am: Sunrise shooting on the harbor.

8am: Breakfast hotel;

9h – 13h: Report photo in the old city (Palace, Venetian Houses, Doors, Streets).

13h: Lunch in town.

16h – 19h: Digital post production.

7 pm: Free dinner

DAY 5 – Departure:

What is included:

The reception at the Chania airport by the Crete Voyages Sun team and transfer to the hotel.

Accommodation in 2 ** Hotel near downtown (breakfast included). Shared room 2 people.

The teaching and introduction to photography with Olivier Blaise (intensive course 3 days, theory and practice).

A tasting evening gastronomy on the old port in traditional tavern.

An excursion to Orthodox monasteries (private transport + facilitator).

What is not included: 

The flight back and forth France – Crete.Transfer from the airport if arriving by Heraklion (allow 50 € per person in taxi minimum 3 people or 25 € bus).

Meals, lunches and dinners. Many possibilities very cheap in town.

Drinks taken at the hotel or at the hotel bar.

The single room supplement (+ 25 € per night).
